Do you ever feel that you have to choose between listening well and being prepared to make your own points? Many people find that listening draws them into someone else's point of view and leaves them flat-footed when it's time to speak. Other people miss key information because they are mentally preparing a response before the other person is finished talking. Balancing careful listening with quick responses is an art.
The musicians of Haolin Munk know how to listen so that they appreciate what they are hearing and respond to it fluently, quickly and creatively. On May 10, they will demonstrate their skills in listening and response. You'll have a chance to talk to them about what they are hearing and how they know where to go. Then Linda Ferguson will lead you through exercises to heighten your ability to listen like a musician whether you are talking to friends or leading a meeting.
There's no charge for this special event, but we are asking you to bring donations for the Daily Bread Food Bank. In honour of young (and hungry!) musicians everywhere, donations of kraft dinner, peanut butter, tuna fish and canned pasta are especially appreciated.
Please call 416-928-2394 or email us to register. We like to make sure there's enough chocolate to go around.
