Practice for Practitioners on Thursday, October 20, 7:30pm

Next Thursday, for the first time, we are inviting practitioners experienced with both NLP and hypnosis to come play.  Our theme for the evening is that state of relaxed focus (sometimes called flow) where human beings do their best work.  Our challenge to you:  what's your favourite way of bringing out this state in yourself? Do you use the same technique for creating the state in other people?  How else could you be doing it?

Linda Ferguson will be doing some NLP and some work with hypnotic language as demonstrations.  Andrew Freund has a different approach based on his years of preparing professional actors to perform at their best.  And we'll be looking for some great conversation on whether hypnotists are getting better results by taking people deep or by working with better interventions in lighter trances.

Here are the two best reasons to come play:

1) You don't want to rely on stress as a motivator.  You want to relax and be productive so that you enjoy the work you do and get better results.

Why Register for NLP Certification This Fall?

Our last NLP certification course for 2011 begins on October 15.  If you're wondering whether you would benefit from being part of that certification, think about these three things:

1) Are you ready to make changes in how you think and act?

This course will give you the tools for real, tangible change in what you do so that you get real, tangible change in your results. We won't tell you what to change but we will give you everything you need to know so that  you can make change.  You won't be able to complain that you have no choice anymore. This course gets people moving.

2) Would you value a diverse network of smart, interesting people who are committed to getting results?

We don't just teach a course: we build a community so that our practitioners can benefit from their connection to a wide range of skills and resources.  If you're in a situation or a business where it is important that you know where to get good input, innovative ideas or reliable recommendations, then being part of the NLP Canada Training community of practitioners will pay off for you.

PERSONALITY & MOTIVATION

Have you ever wished you were better at motivating yourself to get busy and get what you want?

Have you ever wondered what was driving the choices that someone else was making?

Have you ever needed to get someone else motivated so that you could get something done?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, September 24 will offer you a rare opportunity to learn to identify motivations using a system that has been proven across many different cultures and environments.  More than this, you will learn from a master. Dr. Barb Luedecke has extensive experience in change management , executive coaching, and consulting. Her work depends on her ability to identify different motivations and understand the expectations they produce.  She's smart, fun, and down to earth. She loves working with a wide range of people and she is committed to getting results.

Register now for Motivating All Types with the Enneagram, 10am to 4:30pm at Glendon College. $175+HST.  Call Carole at 416-928-2394.

The HOPE Symposium: Our Biggest Event of the Year!

The HOPE Symposium 2011 will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Emmanuel College, Victoria University.

Why would you want to hear 20 short presentations in one day? The twenty speakers at the HOPE Symposium will give you a rare opportunity to see NLP at work. Each of them is a practitioner of neurolinguistic programming (NLP) trained at NLP Canada Training, and each of them has terrific stories to share about making a difference by combining thinking with action.

The day begins and ends with keynote speakers, and includes panels of speakers on Wellness, Business and Personal Vision.  Each of these speakers will be talking about the practical aspects of deciding how to combine truth with hope when leading change in individuals or organizations.  NLP is about grounding ideas in lived experience of what really works.  The HOPE Symposium is about developing a conversation about transforming ideas into tangible, positive change.

A symposium is a chance to gather for food and good conversation.  As we say at NLP Canada Training, "there will be good chocolate" and there will be an extraordinary opportunity to participate in great conversation. Whether you participate by listening and engaging or you speak up and add your voice and your questions to the day, we will be excited to have you join us.  You can register by calling 416-928-2394 or you can register online by clicking here.

NLP and Mindfulness

Thursday, August 4, 2011, 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Mindfulness is often defined as moment to moment awareness of one’s experience in the present moment. It has been around for thousands of years and offers a simple way of centering yourself in the midst of stress, overwhelm, and any of life’s challenges. Conversely, it’s also used to expand the joys, triumphs, and successes that life equally gives us. It is a form of state management used by CEOs, health professionals, salespeople, cab drivers, and everyone in between. It is used in therapeutic contexts, in business and legal negotiations, and to help teens improve self-esteem.

In this evening course, you will learn how the practices of mindfulness and NLP overlap each other, and how you can harness them to handle every aspect of life with greater congruence, rapport, and focus. You will learn how powerful focused, sustained awareness can be in helping you achieve your goals, in being more creative, and in handling daily stress.

The Benefits of the NLP Practitioner Summer Intensive

Did you ever wish you could wake up one morning and find that your problems were no longer an issue?

Of course you have.  We all wish we could wake up and move on. Life teaches us to expect that the problems we have in the evening will be waiting for us the next morning. What could change  while we sleep?

The answer is that our perspective can change.  "Sleep on it" is good advice.  "The morning is wiser than the evening," says one of my favourite fairy tales.  Getting away from a problem does not change the problem, but it can change the meaning we see in it.  "Impossible" can change to "doable" overnight.

If sleeping on it isn't enough for you, consider a summer intensive NLP Practitioner training with us.  Six days can reshape your perspective and your ability to pull yourself together, focus on what you want, and reliably influence others to support your goals. While you won't be sleeping in class, you will be stepping out of your daily routine and away from situations that are limiting or challenging.  By the time you step back into your work and relationships, you will have more flexibility about how to feel and how to act.

Need a Shift? Practice for Practitioners

Tuesday, July 26, 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Brush off your manual, pick your favourite edits, and come out for a practice session with other people who know how to give a shift - or who hope that shift will happen for them this summer. Linda and the training team will be out to demonstrate, encourage, and provide resources. This is a great chance to review your skills and practice with people who will enjoy playing with you. It's also a great chance to ask other people how they would handle sticky situations or choice points that haven't shifted for you yet. It's even likely that Linda will share a particularly useful story. No charge for practitioners trained at NLP Canada Training and their guests

Talking to Your Kids

Tuesday July 12, 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Whether your children are toddlers or teens, this evening course will give you practical advice for listening to what they are saying with their words and behaviours and for talking in a way that gets through to them.  Learn the basics of pacing and leading with behaviour and words; learn the benefits of sharing stories (not using them to lecture); and develop patterns of behaviour that avoid resistance and build your family relationships.  No charge but donations to Room to Read are encouraged.

Wishing Chris Keeler time to refresh, recharge and gather new resources

Long before he founded NLP Canada Training ten years ago, Chris Keeler was immersed in the study and practice of NLP.  For fifteen years, he has been one of Canada's leading practitioners of NLP and Ericksonian hypnosis, training with leaders in NLP and training new leaders for NLP in Canada.  Over these years, Chris has worked hard to recruit and develop leadership for NLP Canada Training.  He is very proud of the work he has done with Linda Ferguson and a terrific community of trainers and master practitioners.

Now that both the company and the community are well-positioned, it is time for Chris to allow himself a well-earned break. In the coming months, Chris will take some time to rest, gather resources and integrate some of the changes and learnings of his very busy life.  He is looking forward to enjoying time with his active family, and to allowing himself the space to integrate learnings and strengthen resources. This will not be a leave of absence, but a leave to be present with the resources and choices that will carry Chris to renewed excellence and enthusiasm.

All of us in the NLP Canada Training community know that Chris will continue to be present in our training through so many strong anchors to his humour, perspectives, and gifts.  We wish him good shifts, deep integration and a growing sense of congruence and resourcefulness.
If you need to reach Chris with a personal message, you can send him email atchris@nlpcanada.com.  Chris's final training will be Get Keeler'd on Monday, May 16, 7:30 to 9:30 pm at 47 Queen's Park Cres. E.  Email Chris to register.

Imagine Learning from Mike Mandel

March 2011 News

Today the sun is shining brightly and the winds are gusting. March is coming in like a lion.  If winter has you feeling less energized than the wind outside,  it might be time to join us for a one day course or evening event. We promise that you'll meet terrific people, gently twist and stretch your thinking, let go some of the stress that you're carrying and feel more ready for spring (in your step, if not in the air). All these events are at 47 Queen's Park Cres. E., Toronto. and require registration by calling Carole at 416-928-2394.

Sunday March 6, 10am to 5pm is another in our new series of courses on Managing Choice. Whole Brain Thinking will show you how to open up new choices and test them using your body, senses, emotions and imagination in collaboration with logical analysis. You'll learn how your body and senses provide a window into unconscious learning that can make you more effective and more precise.  $175 + HST

On Tuesday, March 8, 7:30pm to 9:30pm we have an evening program that will make you laugh.  Enjoy Making Presentations is designed as a hands on experience of making mini presentations that demonstrate your passion, humour, and clear thinking. When you connect each of these with the experience of speaking, you'll understand that underneath the butterflies, you really can enjoy making presentations. This event is by donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We're Training in PEI This Summer

From Monday July 25 to Saturday July 30, Linda Ferguson will be leading an NLP Practitioner Certification training at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown.  PEI is a fantastic setting for NLP: your senses will find much to wake them up and energize them and your mind will unwind to the sounds of a place cradled by the waves.  The University is ten minutes from downtown Charlottetown and the harbour and about 25 minutes from Brackley Beach and the amazing, windswept, wonderful beaches of the National Park.

If you're from the east, this is your chance to enjoy a very fine experience of NLP close to home. If you're from away, this is a great opportunity to combine a vacation with a chance to build skills that will inspire change and growth at home and at work.

Call Carole at 416-928-2394 for more information or to reserve your spots. This training will be limited to eight participants, so register early.

The Benefits of Managing Choice

New series of 5 one day courses:  Take any one or take them all and earn certification

Special Introductory Pricing: $175 + HST for each one day course or $700 for all 5 courses (payable by deposit and installments). All 5 courses must be complete to earn certification in Managing Choice.

Even after you take our new certification on Managing Choice, you will almost certainly struggle with some decisions and wish you had made some others differently. The truth about choice is that it is a complicated process of letting what we want interact with what we know and the circumstances in which we are choosing.  Having the courage to choose means facing the certainty that some of your choices will have unpredictable results. You will never feel entirely in control.

There's a difference between controlling something and building a skill.  When you take all the courses in the new program, you will build the skills associated with both making your own choices and influencing the choices other people make. You'll gain new perspective on what different kinds of research suggest about how people make choices, new insights into how you make your own choices, and new practices for tweaking the relationship between conscious and unconscious processes to influence choice (your own or other people's).

Be Inspired! as 2011 begins

Our first evening program of 2011 runs on Thursday, January 6 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  It's an introduction to NLP that communicates three of the fundamentals of neurolinguistic programming:

1) anything someone does - even if it seems to be the result of unusual personal qualities or talents - can be replicated by other people (even inspiration can be learned!)

2) we learn, grow and thrive by making stronger, more useful connections with other people and

3) the way we talk about experience shapes what that experience will mean in our futures.

It's going to be a very fun, interactive evening.  Whether you are new to NLP or just in need of some inspiration as you face your to-do list this month, join us and celebrate the new year with new focus and enthusiasm.

Registration required (always).  Call Carole at 416-928-2394 to reserve your spot.  No charge for this event but we are strongly encouraging a pay-what-you-can donation to Shelterlink.

NLP Certifications Now Qualify for Tuition Certificates

After many months of communicating with government representatives and relentless follow up by our super business manager, Carole, NLP Canada Training is pleased to announce that we are now certified by Revenue Canada to offer tuition certificates for our NLP Practitioner Certification and NLP Master Practitioner Certification courses.  This means that even if you do not run your own business, you will now be able to claim a tax deduction for tuition paid for those programs.

Please be aware that only the NLP Practitioner and NLP Master Practitioner certifications meet government requirements for certification.  We cannot offer tax certifications for one day courses or for hypnosis certifications with Mike Mandel.

New Certification in Managing Choice

This winter, NLP Canada Training is launching a series of five one day courses that will lead to a new certification in managing choice.  The certification provides perspectives and tangible skills in managing decision-making for yourself and others. It draws on modeling processes from Neurolinguistic Programming and evaluation of research from a variety of disciplines including various branches of psychology, business and behavioural economics. The result is a hybrid that gives you an understanding of human decision-making that yields tangible results. Participants will have a new toolkit for facing difficult decisions of their own, and remarkable new approaches to influencing the decisions other people make.

The first course runs Saturday, January 8 from 10am to 5pm. The Elements of Choice identifies the three forces that interact in every decision and explores how moving attention from one to the other yields new possibilities for more effective decision making and influence.  Participants will learn that every decision is the result of personality interacting with a particular situation through the lens of a specific intention.  Personality, intention and situation make up the decision-making environment in the same way that physical elements define and create a physical environment.
